Today is the 249th anniversary of the first battle of Saratoga, also referred to as the
Battle of Freeman's Farm. This weekend's encampment takes place not on Freeman's Farm, the site of the battle, but on Neilson's Farm, the site of the American camp, also known as stop 2 on the National Historical Park's tour road.
