Before I get back to my usual lenses and save the manual lenses for when I'm bored or need 200mm, I wanted to post a photo of the two lenses. The lenses are without the adapter which is necessary to use them with Canon EOS R series bodies. The adapter adds about an inch to the length of the lens. The 200mm lens has a nice slide out lens hood which is retracted in the photo.
This particular copy of the MD 50mm f/1.7 lens I believe I inherited from a friend's small Minolta inventory. I had one decades ago, but I'm pretty sure my copy had a 49mm filter thread diameter which would be a year newer than this version which has a 55mm filter thread. The 200mm lens I purchased for $50 a while ago.
I'm still trying to come up with a good storage/carry solution for the Minolta lens duo. Long and skinny is not the way current lenses are designed and bags are designed accordingly.
I have a nice Tamrac Ultra Pro 13 which has nice tall narrow compartments but it's at least twice as large as I currently need. That bag dates from my multiple DSLR with 70-200mm, 300mm and 400mm lens days.
A convenient carry solution for the RF 24-105mm lens paired with the MD 200mm lens would be useful. The Minolta 200mm lens, though, is about twice as long and half as wide as the Canon lens. I'll work on it.
UPDATE: Now that I put some thought into it, I do have a bag solution that is heavy but works. I moved the dividers a bit in my Think Tank Speed Freak V2.0 and can fit both my Canon RF lenses and the Minolta 200mm lens with adapter attached. Either of the Canon lenses can be attached to the camera body as shown but the Minolta is too long and will have to be carried on the neck strap (not shown) when on the camera. I can remove the Canon 50mm lens to save weight and have the dual lens situation I discussed earlier.
