I have owned five copies of the RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM lens. It's now six.
It's not an outstanding lens, the autofocus has a habit of hunting a bit, the bokeh is not the creamiest and it's not weather sealed. But it focuses to half macro (.5X), it's smallish, light and the image quality is very good.
Plus, the lens fits an empty space in my current storage bag perfectly. And it's the same length with hoods attached as my other two lenses which makes bag organization easy. It will see a lot of use. You can click
here for a gallery from last fall and my previous copy of this lens.
I had been considering something shorter or longer than my 24-105mm lens but I decided to go with faster, closer and cheaper instead. Here are some shots from the Van Schaick Mansion colonial garden in Cohoes on my way home from Best Buy.
